What Does Albania Offer to Foreign Investors?

Albania offers a very friendly legal framework for foreign investments. The "Foreign Investments Law" is based on the principles of equality, non-discrimination and investor protection.

According to this law:

Foreigners do not need to obtain prior permission to open a business in Albania.

100% foreign ownership of a business is possible.

Foreign investors have the right to repatriate all funds and contributions related to their investments.

Investors are provided with conditions no less advantageous than those provided for domestic investments under similar conditions, except for land ownership, which is regulated by a separate law.

In any case, foreign investments are subject to treatment no less favorable than that provided by generally accepted norms of international law.

A company with the participation of foreign investments has the right to employ foreign citizens.

Private property and investments are protected by law against expropriation or measures having a similar effect, except where the expropriation is carried out for a public purpose.

Investments are treated equally and impartially in all cases and at all times and enjoy full protection and security.
